I find working with clay to be liberating. My previous work in Scientific Illustration required me to be incredibly precise and technical. With the challenges of clay and glazes, I’ve had to be willing to allow for transience and imperfection. My current work is a combination of hand built and wheel thrown pottery with hand painted glaze and underglaze. I find I most often gravitate toward painting whimsical creatures derived from simple shapes. They are attributed personalities and relationships with each other and their world. I am also exploring the use of color, texture and line within the pieces..
